He has been a Professor, PhD, in the Department of Finance, Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchange, Bucharest University of Economic Studies, since 2000. He has been a PhD supervisor in the field of Finance, within the Doctoral School of Finance of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, since 2004. He served as Director of the Doctoral School of Finance, IOSUD – Bucharest University of Economic Studies, between 2014 and 2023. He was Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchange, responsible for scientific research and master’s degree programmes, between 2008 and 2012. He also served as Vice-Dean of the same faculty, responsible for undergraduate distance-learning activities, between 1999 and 2004. Between 1998 and 2000, he was Associate Professor, PhD, in the Department of Finance, Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchange, Bucharest University of Economic Studies. Between 1994 and 1997, he was Lecturer in the same department, obtaining his PhD in 1998. Between 1993 and 1994, he worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Finance and Money, Bucharest University of Economic Studies.
He completed continuing education courses in Distance Education Management at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies in 2010. He undertook academic documentation internships at UNI MAIL University in Geneva, Switzerland, in November 2011 and during June–July 2000. He obtained a certificate of completion for the postgraduate continuing education course in University Management at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies in 2009. He completed the postgraduate course in psycho-pedagogical and methodological training at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies in 2008. He undertook an academic documentation internship at CNAM Paris, France, between April and May 2002. He also completed academic documentation internships at École Supérieure Universitaire de Gestion in Toulouse, France, during May–June 1998 and October 1993 – January 1994. He obtained his PhD diploma in Economics, specializing in Finance and Insurance, in 1997, within IOSUD – Bucharest University of Economic Studies, after completing his doctoral studies between 1994 and 1997. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, specializing in Finance and Accounting, at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, in 1989. He obtained his baccalaureate diploma from the Economic High School of Accounting and Commerce in Călărași in 1977.
His main research interests are corporate finance, corporate governance and social responsibility, as well as taxation and fiscal-budgetary policies.
At undergraduate level, he teaches courses such as Corporate Financial Management, Taxation and Corporate Finance.
At master’s level, he teaches Corporate Tax Management, Corporate Financing, Ethics and Academic Integrity, and Scientific Seminar.
He has published books, monographs and university courses with prestigious international and national publishers, such as Emerald Publishing, LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, Didactic and Pedagogical Publishing House, Economic Publishing House, Bucharest University of Economic Studies Publishing House and Tribuna Economică Publishing House. In total, he has published over 20 books or book chapters, as sole author or co-author. He has published over 170 articles and studies in internationally recognized journals indexed in Web of Science – Clarivate Analytics or in other international databases, as well as in prestigious national specialized journals with ISSN. His works address financial and monetary issues at microeconomic and macroeconomic level, in both national and international contexts. He has presented and published over 100 papers at international conferences held in Romania and abroad, as author or co-author. These papers were included in proceedings indexed in Web of Science or in other international databases and also address financial and monetary issues at microeconomic and macroeconomic level. He has participated in research projects carried out within national scientific research programmes. He coordinated grants and projects won through national competitions, within the PN II–IDEI Programme, Exploratory Research Projects, and within the Research of Excellence Programme, Programme 4 – Partnerships in Priority Areas, between 2008 and 2011. At the same time, he participated as a member of other research teams and carried out direct contracts with the business environment, as project director or team member, on topics related to taxation and corporate finance.
He is a member of important professional and scientific associations. He was President of the Appeals Committee for “Economic Sciences and Business Administration” within CNATDCU between 2017 and 2020. He has been a founding member of the Romanian Association of Finance and Banking since 2012 and of the Financial and Monetary Research Centre since 2002. He has also been a member of the Chamber of Tax Consultants of Romania since 2007 and of CECCAR since 1997. He was a member of the organizing committee or scientific committee of national and international conferences, of journals indexed in international databases, as well as of student scientific sessions, between 2008 and 2023. He was also part of the scientific committee of the publication “ABC-ul lumii financiare” between 2021 and 2023, within the FABBV Faculty. He has carried out activities related to the supervision and evaluation of doctoral and habilitation theses, as a member or chair of public defence committees organized within IOSUD – Bucharest University of Economic Studies, as well as at other prestigious universities in Romania.
