Research centers

The Center for Financial and Monetary Research (CEFIMO) was established at the Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchanges in 2000, based on the Financial Modeling Laboratory, taking over the location and resources of that laboratory, with 28 academic staff members from the Finance, Money, Economic Cybernetics and Statistics departments as members.

The scientific concerns of CEFIMO members are focused on the following thematic directions:

  1. Taxation and its role in economic growth;
  2. Corporate finance in the context of crisis conditions and economic recovery;
  3. The evolution of capital markets generated by the economic and financial crisis.

These thematic research directions were expanded and became the foundation for another research center created at the FABBV Faculty in 2009 — the Center for Advanced Research in Finance and Banking (CARFIB).

The following directions were pursued:

  1. Financial-banking microeconomics;
  2. Financial-monetary macroeconomics;
  3. Capital markets;
  4. International finance;
  5. Financial-banking econometrics.

Currently, the academic staff of the Faculty of Finance and Banking carry out fundamental and applied scientific research within the faculty’s two research centers:

Center for Financial and Monetary Research (CEFIMO) – Director: Prof. Andreea Stoian, PhD (http://www.cefimo.ase.ro);

Center for Advanced Research in Finance and Banking (CARFIB) – Director: Prof. Ciprian Necula, PhD (http://www.dofin.ase.ro/carfib/).
