Ștefan Cristian Gherghina is a Full professor PhD habilitated, and Doctoral supervisor at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Faculty of Finance and Banking. He currently holds the position of Director of the Doctoral School of Finance and serves as a member of the Council for Doctoral Studies (CSUD) for the 2024–2029 term, as well as a member of the National Commission for Attestation of University Titles, Diplomas and Certificates (CNATDCU) for 2024–2028. He obtained his PhD in Finance in 2015 from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, graduating Summa Cum Laude. His academic qualifications include a master’s degree in “Corporate Finance” and additional master’s degrees in “Economic IT” and “English Language Education and Research Communication for Business and Economics”. He holds bachelor’s degrees in “Finance and Banking”, “Economic IT”, and “Accounting and Management Information Systems”. His research expertise spans corporate finance, corporate governance, financial sustainability, quantitative methods in finance, financial risk management, investments, and capital markets. He has authored and co-authored numerous articles published in internationally recognized journals indexed by Clarivate Analytics, such as Financial Innovation, Finance Research Letters, and Technological and Economic Development of Economy. His research excellence has been acknowledged through the “Opera Omnia” and “Georgescu Roegen” distinctions – awarded by the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, as well as prizes from the Executive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation (UEFISCDI) for publications in prestigious journals. Among his academic contributions are several appreciated books, including “Quantitative Methods in Finance. Exploring the Drivers of Sustainable Economic Growth in the EU” and “Corporate Governance and Firm Value”, both honored with the “Best Book in Economics” award by the Romanian Association of Faculties of Economics (AFER). He is actively involved in editorial work, serving on editorial boards of leading international journals and acting as a guest editor for special thematic issues. Moreover, he is a dedicated peer reviewer for many scientific publications worldwide and ranks within the top 1% of reviewers on the Publons platform in the Environment/Ecology and Cross-Field categories.
