Short bio

Cosmin-Octavian Cepoi is a Lecturer within the Department of Money and Banking, Faculty of Finance and Banking, at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. He was born in Tudora, in Botoșani County, and graduated from the “Mihai Eminescu” National College in Botoșani in 2002. He received his PhD in Economics in 2015 from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, with a dissertation on the Microstructure of Financial Markets supervised by Professor Bogdan Negrea. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Bucharest, as well as a Master’s degree in Capital Markets. His research interests lie at the intersection of financial market microstructure, banking system stability and resilience, and firms’ access to external finance. He has authored and co-authored articles published in leading international journals indexed in Web of Science, Q1 category, including Finance Research Letters, Economic Modelling, Financial Innovation and Borsa Istanbul Review, among others. His empirical work relies on advanced econometric modelling and high-frequency and market-level data, contributing to a deeper understanding of price formation mechanisms and the drivers of systemic risk. He also has practical experience in credit risk management and macroeconomic forecasting, having previously worked as a specialist and data analyst in several investment firms and financial institutions. Outside academia, he is passionate about football, tennis and music.
